The landing page mistakes that quietly tax every ad dollar
An account can have flawless targeting, sharp creative, and clean tracking, and still underperform because the landing page adds friction the ad never accounted for. The audit conversation almost never starts here, even though the page is half of the transaction.
The recurring offenders: a headline that doesn't match the ad's promise, breaking the scent trail a visitor followed to get there, a form asking for more fields than the offer justifies, and load time past three seconds on mobile, where most of the traffic actually lands.
The fix that moves the needle fastest is usually the cheapest: matching the page's above-the-fold message word-for-word to the winning ad's hook. Message match alone has recovered double-digit conversion-rate gains on accounts I've audited, with zero change to the media plan.
Every dollar spent on traffic to a leaking page is a dollar spent proving the leak exists faster. Fixing the page first makes every subsequent media dollar worth more: it's the cheapest lever in the whole funnel.
