Teaching a team to prompt isn't an AI strategy

A prompt engineering workshop is an easy sell: it's concrete, immediately demonstrable, and everyone leaves the room having personally used a new tool. It's also, on its own, a skills upgrade for individuals rather than a strategy that changes how the business actually runs.

The gap becomes visible a month later: the team members who attended are marginally more efficient at individual tasks, but nothing about the business's actual workflows, data flows, or decision processes has changed, because a workshop teaches a skill without touching the systems the skill would need to operate inside.

A workshop is a reasonable component of a strategy (teams should know how to use the tools they're given), but it's not a substitute for the harder, less demonstrable work of redesigning a specific workflow around where AI judgment can actually replace or accelerate a bottleneck.

The businesses that see a real operational shift pair the training with at least one concrete, redesigned workflow the training directly supports. Skills without a system to apply them to plateau within a quarter, almost every time.
